This project focused on identifying and eliminating water infiltration at the historic Firestone Library parapet wall.
Scope of work:
- Carefully removed deteriorated masonry and wall components to expose underlying conditions without compromising adjacent structures.
- Applied high-performance waterproofing membranes to protect the wall assembly from future moisture intrusion, ensuring long-term durability.
- Installed new flashing systems to redirect water away from vulnerable joints and transitions, enhancing the wall’s moisture management capabilities.
- Reconstructed the parapet wall using salvaged and new materials, matching the original design and ensuring structural integrity.
- Installed new sealant at coping stone joints to prevent water penetration at the top of the wall, completing the moisture barrier system.
